Opportunity knocks TODAY if you're a Carolina poet!

Published: Fri, 05/31/13

If you're a Carolina poet with a teeny window of time today, here's a great opportunity for you....

Today is the LAST DAY to submit up to 3 poems to a contest for the latest edition of the anthology KAKALAK (an affectionate nickname for the Carolinas).
I love the past issues of this anthology and can't wait to see this year's! Here are the prizes:

First Prize -- $300
Second Prize -- $150
Third Prize -- $75
Publication--One free copy of the published book for each poem selected for publication.

And it only costs $10 to enter (this money is what pays for the prizes and publication).

Submissions are all online, it's "easy peasy lemon squeezy" to do-- jump on in, and maybe our poems will appear together in KAKALAK 2013! Cuz I'm going for it... (nothing like the adrenaline of a last-minute deadline).

Best of luck to you!

Have a great weekend,

Maureen

MAUREEN RYAN GRIFFIN, an award-winning poetry and nonfiction writer, is the author of Spinning Words into Gold, a Hands-On Guide to the Craft of Writing, a grief workbook entitled I Will Never Forget You, and two collections of poetry, This Scatter of Blossoms and When the Leaves Are in the Water. She believes, as author Julia Cameron says, "We are meant to midwife dreams for one another."

Maureen also believes that serious "word work" requires serious WordPlay, as play is how we humans best learn -- and perform. What she loves best is witnessing all the other dreams that come true for her clients along the way. Language, when used with intentionality and focus, is, after all, serious fuel for joy. Here's to yours!
