[WordPlay] Happy National Grammar Day!

Dear
,

Happy National Grammar Day! What? You didn't know it was National  Grammar Day? Well, now you know! And you can celebrate by checking out nationalgrammarday.com.

I love that my mother's birthday falls on National Grammar Day, since she is the one who taught me to love reading -- and good grammar! I lost her more than ten years ago, but she lives on, in my memory and in my work. I am the baby in her lap in this 1957 photo:

Happy Birthday, Mom, and thanks for all the books you "kept me in" (no small task, the way I tore through them) and all the times you made me "look it up in the dictionary."

Who taught you to love the written word? Pass on the "national Grammar Day" love!

And would you like to jump in to some writing frolic? If you live in Charlotte, check out "Jumpstart," a morning workshop coming next Wednesday, March 13 at 10 a.m.

And if you don't live in Charlotte (or can't make that date and time), hit "reply" and let me know if you're interested in attending an online version -- now that I have my "first ever" teleseminar and group coaching program under my belt, I'm exciting about providing these kinds of opportunities for you.

Mind your commas and semicolons, and have a great day reveling in the joy of words,

Maureen

MAUREEN RYAN GRIFFIN, an award-winning poetry and nonfiction writer, is the author of Spinning Words into Gold, a Hands-On Guide to the Craft of Writing, a grief workbook entitled I Will Never Forget You, and two collections of poetry, This Scatter of Blossoms and When the Leaves Are in the Water. She believes, as author Julia Cameron says, "We are meant to midwife dreams for one another."

Maureen also believes that serious "word work" requires serious WordPlay, as play is how we humans best learn -- and perform. What she loves best is witnessing all the other dreams that come true for her clients along the way. Language, when used with intentionality and focus, is, after all, serious fuel for joy. Here's to yours!
