Dear ,
I hope you had a lovely weekend!
Just a quick email to let you know, if you missed the notice on Wednesday, that I'm leading a powerfully helpful writing class beginning this Wednesday that's a culmination of the best tools, practices, and mindsets I've learned along the way. "The Seven Energies of Writing" was inspired some
years ago when I reread a quote by E.L. Doctorow that I thought so highly of, I used it in my writing guide, Spinning Words into Gold: "Planning to write is not writing," Doctorow said. "Outlining, researching, talking to people about what you’re doing, none of that is writing. Writing is
writing."
I can't argue with that. "Writing is writing." True. But that's not the whole story of completing books, or even essays, stories, poems. I know for a fact that if I didn't spend time daydreaming and brainstorming about my work, sharing with a writing buddy or three, planning (I'm not
much of an outliner, but I am a huge believer in pre-writing practices like lists, charts, timelines, and/or mind maps), and, yes, researching from time to time, I'd never finish.
The result of my inquiry into the different "energies" that make up a successful writing process, and how anyone can use them to create a fluid writing system customized to one's own strengths, preferences, and even peculiarities is this course, which I have lovingly crafted and honed for
several years now.
Care to join me? I'd love that. Here are the details:

MAUREEN RYAN GRIFFIN, an award-winning poetry and nonfiction writer, is the author of Spinning Words into Gold, a Hands-On Guide to the Craft of
Writing, a grief workbook entitled I Will Never Forget You, and three collections of poetry, Ten Thousand Cicadas Can't Be Wrong, This Scatter of Blossoms and When the Leaves Are in the Water.
She believes, as author Julia Cameron says, “We are meant to midwife dreams for one another.” Maureen also believes that serious “word
work” requires serious WordPlay, as play is how we humans best
learn—and perform. What she loves best is witnessing all the other dreams that come true for her clients along the way. Language, when used with intentionality and focus, is, after all, serious fuel for joy. Here's to yours!
