"The desire to write grows with writing."
~ Desiderius Erasmus
I first started facilitating "Under Construction" classes because I got so many requests for a class that would "make" people write :)!
And that's what happens in these classes—if "make" means that a group of talented, supportive writers (and one facilitator offering
encouragement, inspiration, resources, and critique) are waiting eagerly each week to hear what new words you've written and give you whatever feedback you need to get past stuck places, brainstorm ideas, strengthen your work, move forward, etc.
Here's a photo of one of one of last semester's classes—through
the "Under Construction" process, over time, two of them have published books, two more are heading toward publications of their completed manuscripts, and at least six have published individual essays, stories and poems and/or won awards for pieces worked on in class. I am so proud of them! And they are so proud of each other.
If you'd like this kind of support and community, there are two spots left in my Tuesday evening session, and we begin this coming Tuesday evening, January 12.
Please email info@wordplaynow.com if you have any
questions. I'd love to talk with you to see if this class is a good fit for you. And with or without Under Construction, I wish you every success with your writing—and all your dreams and goals for the year! Love and light, Maureen MAUREEN RYAN GRIFFIN, an award-winning poetry and nonfiction writer, is the author of Spinning Words into Gold, a Hands-On Guide to the Craft of Writing, a grief workbook entitled I Will Never Forget You, and two collections of poetry, This Scatter of Blossoms and When the Leaves Are in the Water. She believes, as author Julia Cameron says, "We are meant to midwife dreams for one another."
Maureen also believes that serious "word
work" requires serious WordPlay, as play is how we humans best learn—and perform. What she loves best is witnessing all the other dreams that come true for her clients along the way. Language, when used with intentionality and focus, is, after all, serious fuel for joy. Here's to yours! |
